Firefighters were called to the 3500 block of North 10th Street in north Philly just before 4:30 a.m. on Thrusday, Nov. 17 for a reported vehicle fire, officials told Daily Voice.
There, PFD Engine 50 put out a fire that had engulfed two cars, a Dodge Ram and a Jeep Cherokee, authorities said. An unidentified man was found dead in the Jeep, they added.
The Fire Marshal has ruled the incident arson, and the Police Department's Homicide Detective Division has taken over the investigation, officials said.
It's the second fire in Philadelphia this week that authorities believe was intentionally set.
As Daily Voice has reported, two children were hospitalized Wednesday, Nov. 16 following a house fire in Kingsessing that investigators say was set by an arsonist. Authorities have not said the cases are linked.
